On 12 March 2026 Google announced Ask Maps, a Gemini-powered conversational experience in Google Maps. Google says Ask Maps draws on information from more than 300 million places and community contributions from hundreds of millions of reviewers. Rollout began in the U.S. and India on Android and iOS, with desktop planned.
